Meet Shalynna “Shady” Honaker; WHNP-BC

Shady Honaker specializes in women’s health and has been practicing since May of 2018. Shady is dedicated to providing compassionate, holistic and comprehensive care to all women throughout their lifespan.
Education & Training
Shady is originally an East Texas native who relocated to NELA in 2009 to attend college at ULM. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree and Registered Nurse license in May of 2014.
Shady then went to Northwestern State University and obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing, specializing in Women’s Health in May of 2018.
Shady obtained several years’ experience as a nurse in the NICU and Labor unit before moving to the clinical setting as a provider. She then worked for the Louisiana State’s Reproductive Health Program before starting at RMC in February of 2023. Shady has also spent some time doing per diem work teaching for Northwestern States Women’s Health Program.
Shady and her husband Don Honaker currently live in West Monroe. They have two children together, Luke, Samuel and Chandler. Shady also works in many non-profit organizations for pregnancy and infant loss in honor of their son Samuel who was stillborn in 2021. She has a special heart for those walking through their own loss.
